After turning in a most solid month of October which included some outstanding performances at the South Suburban Fall Exposure League in Oak Lawn, IL, word is starting to get out on a true hidden gem in the class of 2010--5'11 point guard James Fleming from Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream, IL. According to Sean Connor of Velocity, the traveling team that Fleming plays for, several college programs are now showing recruiting interest in Fleming, with all levels being represented.
At the present time, D1 schools that have expressed interest in Fleming include Loyola-Chicago, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Western Michigan and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. D2 schools that are involved include Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, WI and Maryville University in St. Louis, MO.
In addition, Joe Griffin, the head coach at Roosevelt University in Chicago has put in countless time recruiting Fleming and in fact no other college coach has watched Fleming play more than Griffin has, as he followed him endlessly throughout the course of the South Suburban League. Roosevelt will begin competing at the NAIA level during the 2010-11 season.
Fleming has not yet taken his ACT but will do so in December. As a result, a number of JUCOS are keeping close tabs on Fleming as well, including a trio in Texas--Trinity Valley, Panola, and Midland as well as College Of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL.
Fleming finished as the leading scorer in the South Suburban League and is a pure point guard with great quickness and tremendous leadership traits. He has truly been among the true surprise players that we have witnessed during the Fall season.
