Crandall Head To Attend Crane

In a somewhat shocking development, 6'4 class of 2010 guard and University Of Illinois commit Crandall Head is transferring to Crane Tech High School in Chicago.  Head, along with with stepfather Bo Delaney reached a decision earlier this week and made the announcement official this morning.

Crandall's transfer to Crane comes as somewhat of a surprise because it was initially believed by many who were close to the situation that he would be headed to North Lawndale.  Furthermore, Delaney had previously indicated that he wanted Crandall and his two brothers (6'2 senior Jeremy Head and class of 2012 prospect Johnny Roland) all to attend different high schools.  However, things change and as it turns out all three will be attending Crane.

Head's decision was based largely on the fact that he was largely concerned with the abundance of talent that would have been around him at the other schools he was considering and thus having to play out of position.  At Crane, there is no question that Head will be the man, as he will be able to play his natural off-guard position and will clearly be the team leader.  Delaney also sited the close relationship that he has with Crane head coach Tim Anderson as being a factor in the decision.

What also makes head's transfer choice an interesting one is the fact that Crane has a history of turning out NBA-caliber guards, including Tony Allen, Will Bynum and Sherron Collins.
