2010 City-Suburban Showdown To Feature Three Awesome Matchups

The Integrity Group announced via a press release issued yesterday that its originally announced lineup for the 2010 City-Suburban Showdown has been updated to include the first ever triple header for this marquee event. The field looks outstanding to say the least, as it will feature six schools that are sure to rank among the top high school basketball teams in the state of Illinois next season as well as many of the top prospects in the classes of 2010 and 2011, and the top 3 prospects in the loaded class of 2013.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 20 at the University of Illinois-Chicago's Pavilion.  In the opening matchup at 4:30 P.M. Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago will take on St. Patrick High School in Chicago in a battle of two Catholic school powers.  Mt. Carmel will be led by 6'0 class of 2011 point guard Tracy Abrams, who has already committed to the University of Illinois.  St. Patrick, meanwhile, will feature a pair of talented class of 2011 prospects in 6'5 shooting guard Jacob Williams and 6'5 forward Kortney Darby.

In the 6:30 game, Chicago Catholic League heavyweight De LaSalle will do battle with Chicago Public League power Simeon in a game featuring two teams that are sure to rank among the preseason top 10 teams in the state regardless of class.  The talent on the floor for this game will be tremendous, as two of the top prospects in Illinois from the class of 2013, 6'5 Jabari Parker from Simeon and 6'6 Alex Foster of De La Salle will square off against one another.  The game will also feature 6'3 University of Dayton commit Brandon Spearman from Simeon and 6'7 nationally ranked class of 2011 forward Mike Shaw of De La Salle.

The nightcap features a repeat of last year's Class 4A state championship game between Waukegan High School and defending state champion Chicago Whitney Young. This game will arguably feature the top two rated teams in Illinois, as both teams return most of their heavy artillery from last season's successful squads. Waukegan features the best player in the state in 6'7 class of 2010 forward Jereme Richmond, also a University of Illinois recruit.  Whitney Young features yet another of the state's top class of 2013 prospects in 6'7 Thomas Hamilton Jr. as well as a wealth of other top talent led by 5'8 Oregon State University commit Ahmad Starks and 6'5 nationally ranked class of 2011 shooting guard Sam Thompson.

Tickets for the City-Suburban Showdown  are $12 for adults and $10 for students and can be purchased at participating schools or the Pavilion box office.  In addition, tickets can also be purchased online at www.TicketMaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Kudos must go out once again to both Bob Rylko and David Kaplan of The Integrity Group, who continue to show why they are among the best high school basketball promoters around, as they have clearly put together another spectacular lineup.
